What if I forgot my username or password?

You can reset your username or password on our website by clicking the "Forgot your Username or Password?" link on the login page.

How old do I need to be to start driver ed?

You must be at least 15.5 by the first day of the driver's ed online class.

Policies

What is your refund policy?
  • Cancellations made more than seven days before the start of the program will receive a full refund minus a $5 processing fee. No refund will be given if a code has been issued to the student for the online course.
  • No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than seven days before the start of the program.
  • No refunds issued for any students removed due to misconduct for any reason.
  • MCESC reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes and drives due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, participants will be offered an alternative class date or drive time.
Do you charge a cancellation fee?

If you fail to show up for a lesson or do not cancel or reschedule on our website at least 48-hour advance, you will be charged a $30 late cancellation fee. You may cancel or reschedule by logging into your student account on our website.

 
Do I need a temporary license to start driver ed?

Students may begin the driver education class at age 15 and 5 months before obtaining a temporary driving permit. However, they are required to obtain a valid temporary driving permit prior to behind-the-wheel training.  

 
Do you offer payment plans?

Not at this time.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, check, or cash.

How long does it take to complete driver ed?

The completion time depends on the student, the scheduling flexibility, and the instructor's availability. Typically, each student is done with the class and behind-the-wheel lessons within eight weeks.

Behind-the-Wheel

How fast can I complete behind-the-wheel lessons?

This depends on your scheduling flexibility and instructor availability. You can take one 2-hour behind-the-wheel lesson each day and schedule up to three driving lessons in advance. You must have one practice day between lessons. So you could schedule Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Once you complete Monday's lesson, you could schedule another upcoming lesson.

How do I schedule a behind-the-wheel lesson?

Log in to your student account on our website. Choose an available time and your preferred instructor.

Do I need to have my own car insurance for behind-the-wheel?

No, you are covered under our commercial insurance during all behind-the-wheel training.

Can I use my own car?

No, our vehicles have safety features (passenger brake, passenger mirror, student driver signs, etc.) that don't come in standard cars.

Are your instructors licensed?

Yes, each of our instructors is licensed by the state to teach behind-the-wheel driver training to all teen drivers.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?

Will I have other students in the car with me?

No. All of our driving lessons are one-on-one without the distraction of other passengers.

Will I have the same instructor for every lesson?

Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. You may choose the same instructor for each lesson if they are open or try a different instructor.

Can I request a specific driving instructor?

Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. If your preferred instructor is open, you can select them for a lesson.

Do you offer home pick-up and drop-off?

Not at this time. 

When can I start the behind-the-wheel lessons?

You can start driving lessons anytime with a valid learner permit or temporary driver's license. You must complete the driver's ed classroom and submit your certificate of completion  before starting behind-the-wheel lessons.You can schedule driving lessons on our website once certificate is turned in, you are registered and paid in full.

What safety equipment are your cars equipped with?

In addition to traditional safety features such as advanced airbags, a hand brake, and anti-lock braking systems (ABS), each DriveSmart car includes an instructor safety brake, instructor mirrors, Student Driver labels, and a dash cam to ensure the safety of both students and instructors.

What happens if I forget my permit?

If you forget your permit, you will be unable to drive, and you will be charged the $30 cancelation fee. You must have your driving permit with you for behind-the-wheel training. (It's the law!) The paper permit is only valid for 30-day or until you get your ID card. (whichever is first)
